WorldSBK and WorldSSP riders’ incredible pace earns them accolades
Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was in a league of his own this season, setting blisteringly fast laps race after race that even the World Champion couldn’t match. The Welshman won 11 times this year and set the fastest lap in 10 races, earning him the 2016 Pirelli Best Lap Award.
In WorldSSP, Kyle Smith’s (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) story of success was similar. Though he only won twice, he set the fastest lap at five different races, compared to the two fastest laps set by current World Champion.
